The European Pharmacopoeia defines two types of nitrogen gas: "medical nitrogen gas" and "low oxygen nitrogen gas". As the name suggests, the former (medical nitrogen) is used for medical purposes, such as hospitals. The latter can be used for inert protection of drugs that are sensitive to oxygen. However, there are no standards for moisture, oil, or particles. Simply requiring a low oxygen content nitrogen purity of 99.5% seems insufficient. According to production, storage, and transportation conditions, the remaining 0.5% may contain moisture, oil, etc.
